When Life Hands You a Lot of Stress
By Wendy Francis, NBC-HWC – Board-Certified Health & Cognitive Coach
There are seasons in life when everything seems to happen all at once.
You may be juggling work, family responsibilities, moving, caregiving, financial pressure, emotional stress, lack of sleep, or simply trying to keep all the pieces together. And the interesting thing about stress is that sometimes you don’t even feel stressed while it’s happening.
You’re just busy. You’re functioning. You’re getting things done.
But your body knows.
Even when your mind keeps pushing forward, your nervous system may be quietly working overtime behind the scenes. Your brain is processing nonstop. Your body is adapting to constant demands. And when that goes on for too long, cortisol, one of your main stress hormones, can stay elevated longer than your body was designed to handle.
When Your Body Has Been in Survival Mode Too Long
Stress is not always loud. It does not always look like panic, crying, or feeling overwhelmed. Sometimes stress looks like pushing through the day, ignoring your own needs, skipping meals, sleeping poorly, forgetting to drink water, and telling yourself, “I’ll get back on track soon.”
But eventually, the body starts sending signals.
- Feeling tired but wired
- Brain fog or forgetfulness
- Trouble sleeping
- Cravings for sugar, salt, or quick energy
- Bloating or digestive changes
- Mood swings or irritability
- Low motivation
- Feeling emotionally drained
This does not mean you are failing. It means your body has been carrying too much for too long.
Sometimes You Need a Reset
When life hands you a lot of stress, the goal is not to shame yourself into doing better. The goal is to support your body in feeling safe again.
That is exactly why I created the 5-Day Cortisol Reset Challenge.
This is not an extreme program. It is not about restriction, perfection, or doing everything right. It is about getting back to the basics in small, realistic ways so your body can begin to come out of survival mode.
Over five days, we will focus on simple daily habits that support the nervous system, help regulate energy, and bring the body back toward balance.
What We’ll Focus On
Each day of the challenge will include small, doable steps centered around the basics your body needs most when stress has taken over.
- Hydration: giving your body the fluids and minerals it needs to function well
- Nutrition: choosing foods that support steady energy and blood sugar balance
- Movement: using gentle movement to help release stress without overtaxing the body
- Sleep: creating simple rhythms that help the body recover
- Nervous system support: adding small moments of calm throughout the day
These may sound simple, but simple does not mean ineffective. Sometimes simple is exactly what the body needs most.
You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
If you have been running on empty, feeling scattered, bloated, exhausted, overstimulated, or just not like yourself, this challenge is for you.
We are going to slow things down, simplify the process, and give your body a chance to reset one day at a time.
You do not need to overhaul your entire life. You just need to start listening to your body again.
Join me for the 5-Day Cortisol Reset Challenge and let’s get back to the basics together.
Because when life hands you a lot of stress, your body deserves support, not more pressure.
