Finding Your Boaz: Why Every Woman Deserves a Man Who Honors Her

Wendy Francis, NBC-HWC Board Certified Cognitive Health Coach

In the book of Ruth, we are introduced to Boaz: a man of integrity, compassion, and unwavering faith. He not only noticed Ruth in her time of need but also protected her, provided for her, and honored her character. For Christian women, Boaz serves as a powerful representation of the kind of man worth waiting for. But what does it truly mean to find a 'Boaz' in today's world?

What Boaz Represents

Boaz wasn't just a wealthy landowner; he was a man of noble character. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to doing what was right. When he encountered Ruth, a Moabite widow who had nothing to offer him, he treated her with respect and dignity.

Boaz:

  • Showed kindness without expecting anything in return (Ruth 2:8–9)
  • Protected Ruth from harm, ensuring her safety in his fields (Ruth 2:15)
  • Honored her for her faithfulness and loyalty (Ruth 2:11–12)
  • Provided generously, going above and beyond to meet her needs (Ruth 3:15)

Why You Deserve a Boaz

If you find yourself in a relationship where you feel undervalued, unappreciated, or disrespected, consider the qualities of Boaz. He didn’t just take Ruth under his wing — he lifted her up and made her feel seen, valued, and protected. God desires that kind of love for you too.

Remember, Boaz didn’t find Ruth because she was seeking a man. He found her because she was seeking God and doing what was right. God orchestrated their meeting as Ruth stepped out in faith and obedience.

Encouragement for the Waiting Season

Waiting for a Boaz doesn’t mean sitting around, hoping for a perfect man to arrive. It means becoming a woman of noble character yourself: a woman who knows her worth in Christ, who walks in faith, and who trusts God’s timing.

If you’re currently in a relationship that feels unhealthy or if you’re struggling to wait, consider these truths:

  • God sees you and values you. You are worth being treated with love, honor, and respect (Psalm 139:14).
  • God is not a God of confusion but of peace. If you’re feeling unsettled, lean into His wisdom and guidance (1 Corinthians 14:33).
  • God’s timing is perfect. Ruth wasn’t looking for Boaz; she was faithfully serving Naomi and following God’s lead (Ruth 2:2–3).

Pray for Your Boaz

Instead of praying for a specific person, pray for God’s best for you. Pray for a man of integrity, a man who seeks God, a man who sees you through the eyes of Christ; as Boaz saw Ruth.

Final Thoughts

Remember you are a daughter of the King. You are deserving of love, honor, and respect. Don’t settle for less than a man who reflects the heart of Boaz. And while you wait, keep your eyes fixed on the One who loves you most: the ultimate Redeemer, Jesus Christ.
